Christine is a native of Bangalore, India. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Women’s Christian College, Chennai, and her Master’s Degree in Special Education from the College of William and Mary, Virginia. Christine’s passion is instruction. She has served as a special educator in Virginia’s public schools for over twenty-six years working directly with students at the elementary and secondary levels. Christine is a certified Wilson Dyslexia Therapist with extensive experience in teaching reading, spelling, and writing to students with learning disabilities, including dyslexia. She has taught in a variety of inclusive settings, co-planning and co-teaching to support students with disabilities as well as served as the teacher of record.
The Virginia Department of Education Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) at the College of William and Mary currently employs Christine as a Project Specialist.
She supports teachers in co-planning and co-teaching, unit development aligned with state SOLs, math instruction, and multi-sensory reading and language instruction through the use of a structured literacy approach. Christine has completed Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator training and coaches teachers in the Orton-Gillingham approach. She also serves as a LETRS, 3rd edition, Volume 1 Facilitator. Christine is a Professional Developer for the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM) Learning Strategies out of the University of Kansas, Center for Research on Learning. On her days off, Christine enjoys brewing exotic meads at her home, making jewelry to compliment her many outfits, and traveling to historical sites across the globe.
